Today I thought I would share with you some things I do to stay healthy. It took me awhile to get into a routine and now with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up I try to stick to this as much as possible.
Drink green tea on a regular basis– and by regular basis I mean 5-7 cups daily. I also like to add cinnamon and lemon juice for extra flavor. This is my secret weapon for losing weight.
White Tea Lemonade is one of my favorite iced teas to drink. Its super easy and tasty. All you need is 1 white tea bag steeped for 7-10 mins and lemonade.
Drink plenty of water – That’s probably a no brainer right. Believe it or not a lot of people think they drink “enough” water when they’re really not. I “try” to drink at least 2 gallons of water a day along with my green tea.
Eat plenty of vegetables- I love vegetables especially corn and tomatoes. (I literally put tomatoes on EVERYTHING!) On toast, mixed with rice, the list goes on and one. I met a Chinese woman at a hair store that told me tomatoes were good for preventing cancer. Not sure how true it is, but I’ve been eating tomatoes like crazy ever since then.
Smoothies– I drink smoothies in between meals instead of snacking because I tend to over snack. You know those Special K yogurt covered granola bars? Well I could eat about 3 of those and not feel guilty. So to prevent all that I just head to the fridge and grab all the oats and fruit my heart desires and throw it in the blender. If I have extra I put the rest in mason jars.
Coconut water, Kale, Blueberry protein powder, Peach yogurt, Whole Oats, Flaxseeds, Blueberries, Bananas, Peaches, and Strawberries.
Large Breakfast or Lunch– I like to eat a heavy breakfast or lunch, If I eat a big breakfast I’ll have a smoothie for lunch. If I have a big lunch, I’ll drink a smoothie or make a fruit bowl for dinner. I try to stay away from eating a big dinner. Examples of what I would eat for breakfast and lunch are below.
No eating after 9:00 – This one’s tough because I am a college student and I do stay up late almost every night. I’m always tempted to go in the refrigerator and grab something usually ice cream hehe. What I do to prevent myself from eating so late is to drink a few cups of green tea, and I also keep 2 or 3 bottles of water by the bed.
Have my cake and eat it too – I believe the best way to stay healthy and sane is to eat cake. Yes you read that correctly. I love cake and ice cream and brownies, so I eat it. Not everyday, but once.. okay maybe twice a week.
Walk 30 minutes 2 to 3 times a week– That’s probably not a lot in some people opinions, but it works for me. I usually lose more weight by eating healthy than by exercising. Honestly I hate exercising, I really do. I’m motivated for about 2 weeks then after that I’m just like “This bed sure does feel comfy!” As a matter of fact I’m still paying for a gym membership and I haven’t been to the gym since April! Walking just seems like that best and easiest way for me to get any sort of exercising done.
Keep a positive attitude– This is the most important one! When people think about health they think about diet and exercising, but keeping a positive attitude is great for overall health.
